Rainy days

...are so rare in Colorado.  Yes, there is the rainy season where it seems to pour like clock-work every afternoon around 1:30 pm...but that rain is short-lived and before you know it, the brilliant sun is beaming down once again, drying out the dusty streets.  Maybe it's the Michigan girl in me, but sometimes I just crave a good ol' rainy day.  Drizzly and gloomy from the time you wake up to the end of the day when you cuddle up in bed with the sound of the rain.  Michigan is something like the second cloudiest state in the country, isn't it?  I'm not used to this constant barrage of perfect weather...it seems to be getting me down heh.  Today was deliciously gray and rainy.  It was good for the soul. ;)

I carried 2 platefuls of confetti cupcakes with rainbow chip frosting to church under my umbrella.  I haven't actually been going to church these last couple of weeks, but my house was filled with cupcakes and it seemed like the most logical way to dispose of them and make people happy all in one stroke.  I heard they were yummy.  That's pretty stupendous since I'm the worlds biggest disaster in the kitchen.  Can't go wrong with confetti cupcakes I guess, even if it's Irene making them.

So why am I not going to church lately?  I'm finding it impossible to choose between the two completely mediocre churches in this town and pretending that I can get something out of their passionless services.  One is better than the other, but I still just have no connection.  It does cross my mind that what I make of it is what I will get out of it...but at the moment I just don't have the determination to try.

Oh guess what!  I have a skinned knee and shin...just like the olden days when I would fall in the driveway as a kid.  It hurts like the dickens but I haven't put a band-aid on it.  Haha...it kind of makes me feel cool and retro.  The way I got them was not so cool...someone turned off my porch light and it was so dark when I got home that I couldn't see the stone steps outside my house.  I therefore tried to step UP into nothingness, instead of DOWN like the steps actually were positioned.  So yeah, I ended up falling on my face....oh AND my keys went flying into the darkness so I had to search for them in the dark while crying (just a little haha.)  I finally discovered them in a bush along the sidewalk.  Classy.

Well, I think that's is enough for now.  I'm babysitting at the moment and the kids are asleep...ahh, a day in the life of a nanny :)  Bye bye for now...
